Tottenham Hotspur are keen to add English midfielder James Maddison to their squad this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
New manager Ange Postecoglou has identified the need to sign a creative midfielder for the squad this summer as their midfield has lacked a creative midfielder since the exit of Christian Eriksen.
Tottenham have made Leicester City midfielder Maddison their priority target in midfield as they look to set up their squad ahead of the 2023-24 season. The 26-year-old was relegated with the Foxes in 2022-23 despite scoring ten goals for them in the Premier League.
Maddison was also on the radar of Newcastle United, who have turned their attention towards the signing of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.
Tottenham news: Postecoglou seeks to add James Maddison quality to squad
Maddison has been one of English football’s finest attacking midfielders since joining Leicester from Norwich City. The 26-year-old is one of the Foxes’ most valuable assets and has only one year left on his contract at King Power Stadium, meaning the club will look to cash in on him.

Tottenham will be keen to keep club legend Harry Kane at the club, and the only way to convince the striker of their ambition is by surrounding his with the best players in the league. Having Maddison in the team will enable the forwards to function better and reduce the creative burden on Kane, especially.
Maddison will fit into Spurs’ system like a glove, either in a 4-3-3 or in a 4-2-3-1. The Englishman will be keen to move to North London as he will be able to continue being considered for the English national team ahead of Euro 2024.
