Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to concluding a £25m deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, according to a report from Sunday People.
Burkina Faso international Tapsoba has been on the radar of Spurs this summer as they look to sign a new defender to provide cover for their squad ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Tottenham have made an offer of £25m for the 24-year-old centre-back from Bayer Leverkusen, and their negotiations with the German club are progressing well, according to the report from Sunday People.
The club will proceed to speak with the defender in order to reach an agreement on personal terms once they conclude talks with Bayer Leverkusen as they look to make him their third summer signing.
Tottenham close in on Edmond Tapsoba signing
Tottenham have signed Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent deal this summer and Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli, as well. They will look to complete a deal for Tapsoba from Leverkusen, too.
Tapsoba is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in Germany, having established himself with a series of impressive performances for the club. He will be a quality addition to Tottenham’s squad, and will likely walk straight into the starting XI at the club.
For a reported £25m fee, Tapsoba will be a huge bargain for Tottenham due to his evident quality and ability. He will be an upgrade on the club’s current left-sided centre-backs and has a higher ceiling than the club’s other targets, such as Harry Maguire and Max Kilman.
