Sheffield United are nearing an agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of centre-back Auston Trusty this summer, as per Sky Sports News.
Newly-promoted Sheffield United are keen on signing new players to improve their squad ahead of a season back in the Premier League. The Blades have been active in this summer’s window, with a few deals already completed.
Arsenal defender Trusty becomes the latest target for Paul Heckingbottom’s side, and a deal is nearing its completion between both sides. A transfer fee of around £5m has been discussed for the centre-back, and the Blades are prepared to sign the 24-year-old.
Trusty will be pleased to join the Blades and play in the Premier League as it has been established that he will not play first-team football for the Gunners in 2023-24.
Sheffield United keen on Auston Trusty
Sheffield United are interested in signing Trusty to add quality and steel to their backline after his impressive season in the Championship on loan at Birmingham City. The USMNT defender featured 48 times on loan at the Championship side last season, playing a starring role in his first taste of European football.
Trusty earned rave reviews for his composure and quality, and featured in this preseason for the Gunners. He is, however, behind Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior in the pecking order at the Emirates, and will be keen to play regularly.
The Blades have already signed French defender Yasser Larouci to strengthen their defence, and adding the quality of Trusty will make their backline more solid.
