Rangers eye move for Karlan Grant

Rangers are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Karlan Grant in the summer transfer window, according to journalist, Darren Witcoop.

Michael Beale is looking to bolster the forward department in the summer with Alfredo Morelos all set to depart in the summer following the expiry of his contract.

Grant joined West Brom in 2020 for a fee of £15m, signing a six-year deal. However, the Baggies – who failed to secure promotion to the Premier League this season – are ready to let him go.

The Sunday Mirror journalist claims that the Baggies will listen to offers for the 25-year-old striker who is also wanted by a host of Championship clubs.

In three seasons at the Hawthorns, Grant has managed 24 goals in 98 games. In 2022-23 campaign, he has scored five goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.

“West Brom will listen to offers for striker Karlan Grant this summer. Grant has Championship admirers while Scottish side Rangers have registered an interest,” wrote Witcoop on Twitter.

“Grant signed a six year deal when he joined the Baggies for £15m in 2020 but he can now leave Albion.”

Rangers news: Karlan Grant replacement for Morelos?

It looks like Beale will completely revamp the forward department.

Apart from Morelos, it appears that Rangers are also looking to offload Antonio Colak in the summer window.

Colak joined last summer, signed by Giovanni van Brinckhorst, and impressed in the first half of the season. However, Beale doesn’t fancy him, and the club now look to offload the striker.

Rangers news

Grant has mostly played in the Championship, but he has also got Premier League experience as well.

He is not a prolific goalscorer which is a big concern. In 2021-22, he scored 18 goals for the Baggies in a season, while in 2019-20, he managed 19 goals for Huddersfield, but his form has dropped considerably in recent years.

A move to Ibrox could be tempting for him, and it remains to be seen if the Gers can agree a deal for the striker in the summer.
