Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal are in the market for a new goalkeeper as they look to get competition for Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners intend to target Brentford goalkeeper David Raya this summer and as a result, are open to the possibility of an exit for one of their other goalkeepers this summer.
USMNT international Turner has impressed in his time as second choice for the Gunners and is being considered by Nottingham Forest to be their new starting goalkeeper. Both sides have not yet established contact as Forest are deciding between moving for Turner or completing the signing of Dean Henderson on loan.
Nottingham Forest are only interested in taking Turner on a permanent deal, while their interest in Henderson is for a temporary deal. They will decide on the best course of action and act accordingly in the coming days.
Matt Turner performances impress Nottingham Forest
Arsenal star Turner has impressed since he set foot at the club, providing quality cover for first-choice goalkeeper Ramsdale. The USMNT star will feel like he has earned a good amount of experience required to play regularly for an European side and not be second-choice for the Gunners.
Turner joined Arsenal from New England Revolution last year and impressed with his handling, composure and distribution when called upon by the Gunners. He kept four clean sheets in seven appearances for the London club, all in cup competitions.
While Turner did not get much of a look-in at club level, his performances for the USMNT were very impressive. The 29-year-old was vital for his country as they reached the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and won the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League. He will be open to joining Forest once it becomes apparent that Arsenal are after a more high-profile goalkeeper.
