Liverpool discuss signing Brighton star Moises Caicedo

Liverpool have discussed the possibility of signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

The Reds will look to bring in new faces in midfield during the summer, and the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount of Chelsea, and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes are being linked with a move already.

However, it seems they are also interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder who has managed one goal and one assist so far in 25 appearances in the Premier League.

Arsenal attempted to sign the Ecuador midfielder in the January transfer window but Brighton demanded over £90m for him. In the end, the deal didn’t materialize.

Moises Caicedo – cracking signing

The defensive midfielder is an engine in the middle of the park. He manages around 2.8 tackles per game and is equally good with his passing range.

However, it will require a massive transfer fee to land him. He signed a new contract at the club last month that will keep him until 2027, with Brighton having the option to extend the deal for another year.

The Reds desperately need to revamp their midfielder after a disappointing campaign. The likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur (who will return to Juventus) are certain to leave following the expiry of their deals, while doubts remain over the future of James Milner as well.

Fabinho has struggled this season and Thiago has struggled with injuries. The Reds are left with no other option but to bring in new players to freshen up the squad.

Liverpool’s transfer budget could be hampered if they fail to secure Champions League football for next season and it remains to be seen if Jurgen Klopp can lure these players to join Anfield.

The Reds could also be looking to sign a new goalkeeper with Caoimhin Kelleher ready to leave the club due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
