Exclusive: Tottenham hope to sign James Maddison, Harry Kane latest

The transfer situation of James Maddison is finally moving and the expectation at Tottenham is they will get their man.

Their interest in him precedes new boss Ange Postecoglou but the manager is very much on board with having him as part of the side for next season.

Personal terms are not a problem but agreeing a fee will be.

There is a strong feeling that Tottenham will not overstep the £50m mark in this pursuit and that is not good news for Leicester, who value him at £55-60m.

They are going to have to consider whether they reach that target fee though.

Newcastle are also interested but there is even more doubt about them satisfying Leicester. And, anyway, the player himself would prefer Spurs at this moment I am told.

Latest on Harry Kane

Of course there is suddenly another pressing issue for Spurs to deal with as Bayern Munich have lodged a £60million offer for star striker Harry Kane.

The bid is not enough to be taken seriously but the German champions are very keen on this signing and are likely to revisit.

They believe Kane is open to joining them but if that’s the case they are going to have to raise their offer quite significantly.

He is valued at close to £100million and Spurs will expect that level to be reached in some shape or form if Bayern are to be taken seriously.
