Everton are interested in signing Swedish winger Anthony Elanga from Manchester United this summer, as per Foot Mercato.
The Toffees are keen on addressing issues the team is facing in their attacking unit, especially after their unimpressive 2022-23 season which saw them escape relegation narrowly. They have also now lost experienced winger Andros Townsend, who missed the entirety of last season through injury, for free.
Manchester United forward Elanga is unsettled at the club as a result of the limited playing time he received from manager Erik ten Hag in his first season in charge. Everton are keen to take advantage of his situation to try and sign him this summer.
The Toffees made an approach for Elanga in January, which was turned down by the Red Devils. The 21-year-old winger has a market value of £15.3m and is keen to leave Old Trafford.
Anthony Elanga open to Everton move for playing time
Elanga featured 26 times for Manchester United in the 2022-23 season but played only 702 minutes across the season. The Sweden international contributed two assists for the team in his time on the pitch. In the previous season, he played 27 times and logged over 1400 minutes.
Under ten Hag last season, Elanga was behind Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order and will be keen to leave the club this summer in search of regular minutes. With the 2024 European Championship coming up, the winger will be keen to play regularly.
Everton will provide a good level for Elanga to improve and play regular football, and the 12-cap Sweden international will be a good addition for the Toffees.
