Everton are closing in on a deal to sign diminutive winger Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United, as per Sky Italia.
The Toffees have sought to make attacking reinforcements this summer after a clear lack of firepower almost cost them their place in the Premier League last season as they narrowly avoided relegation after scoring 34 goals in the league.
Everton are nearing an agreement with Leeds United for one of their top targets Gnonto, who exploded onto the scene as an 18-year-old in his debut season in English football. The Toffees will aim to take advantage of his side’s relegation to bring him to Goodison Park.
Sky Italia reports that the teenage winger is on the verge of joining the Premier League side, and he will join the squad in its preseason camp in Switzerland.
Everton set to sign top talent Wilfried Gnonto
Everton are keen to sign Italian international winger Gnonto as their second summer addition after Ashley Young. The diminutive winger made a huge impression in his first season in English football, making 27 appearances. He contributed four goals and four assists for his side and was a live livewire throughout the season.
The former FC Zurich winger will add more thrust and directness to the Toffees attack which severely lacked bite last season. His dynamism in attack will make the side much less predictable and he will enjoy playing off a striker like Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Leeds United signed Gnonto for around £3.8m and are certain to make a profit from his sale. The teenage star will be a good fit for Everton.
