Everton are close to completing a deal to sign Spanish striker Rodrigo Moreno from Leeds United this summer, according to TuttomercatoWeb. 

The Toffees are keen on adding attacking firepower to their squad after narrowly escaping relegation to the Championship in the 2022-23 season and scoring only 34 goals in the entire 38-game league season.

Everton have made an approach for experienced Leeds United striker Rodrigo, who is also on the radar of Aston Villa for a summer transfer. According to TuttomercatoWeb, the Toffees hope to wrap up a deal to sign the 32-year-old from Leeds United in the coming week.

Rodrigo has a relegation clause in his Leeds United contract that will allow him leave the Yorkshire club for only £3m following their relegation to the Championship.

Rodrigo scored 13 Premier League goals for Leeds United in the 2022-23 season, more than any Everton player managed throughout the campaign. The 32-year-old is a capable goalscorer and will be perfect for a team like the Toffees, who struggle for goals.

Everton have in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, one of the league’s best strikers, but his injury record works against him and his team, mostly. The Toffees missed the England international for most parts of the season and were forced to rely on academy graduate Ellis Simms after the January transfer window.

With the likes of Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray and Dwight McNeil providing the service he needs, Rodrigo will thrive at Goodison Park and continue to do what he does best, score goals.
