Chennai Super Kings’s (CSK) fast bowler Mukesh Chaudhary’s injury has brought another blow to the franchise, as they seek Arjun Singh, the U19 World Cup pacer, as his replacement for this season of IPL 2023, as cited by Indian Premiere League in a tweet.
Mukesh Chaudhary was instrumental to Chennai Super Kings’ lineup last season, finishing as the team’s joint-highest wicket-taker with 16 hits from 13 games at a brilliant economy rate of 9.31.
“Mukesh, who made his IPL debut last season and scalped 16 wickets, is recovering from a stress fracture,” as quoted by TOI.
In the wake of this news, CSK has made a significant move ahead and decided to sign U19 World Cup star Akash Singh for INR 20 lakh.
Akash Singh is an upcoming U19 pacer for India who was part of the Indian team that won the 2020 U19 World Cup and was one of their most successful bowlers.
In 2019, Akash made his T20 debut for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and has since played nine T20s taking 31 wickets. He also secured a deal at the 2020 IPL Auction with Rajasthan Royals.

Akash Singh – Young Potential?
Akash has been a standout performer for India since his debut and his ability to bowl at high speeds and accuracy makes him a real asset to CSK’s bowling lineup.
While Mukesh undergoes a recovery and rehabilitation period for his stress back injury at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy, Akash can be seen as an important member of CSK’S bowling lineup.
It remains to be seen how CSK copes with their new adjustments in the wake of multiple injuries and if they can still make it into playoffs after missing out on it in the last season.
With this move, Chennai Super Kings will hope that Akash can fill the void left by Mukesh Chaudhary and help them win their first IPL title since 2018!
