Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton clash vs Brighton

Everton will travel to Amex Stadium to face Brighton in the Premier League on Monday (08 May) and Chris Sutton expects another away defeat for the Toffees.

We are now into the last four games of the season, and each of them should be like cup finals for Everton who sit 19th in the table with just 29 points.

The Toffees are winless in their last seven games in the Premier League but Sean Dyche is confident that his side won’t be relegated.

Brighton are aiming for a European spot and they can leapfrog Liverpool with two games in hand advantage. They are heading into this fixture on the back of a 1-0 victory against Manchester United, and are clear favourites for this game.

Sutton says that Everton’s “main threat” will come from set-pieces but he doesn’t see Brighton struggling to create chances as well.

The BBC pundit expects the Seagulls to beat Everton comfortably and has predicted a 2-0 win for them.

“I fancy Brighton strongly here. Everton were quite direct against Leicester in the week, which was effective, and I am sure they will try the same again, but they have got to get the ball off the Seagulls first,” wrote Sutton.

“Everton’s main threat will come from set-pieces; at the other end, though, I can’t see Brighton struggling to create chances. They wiped the floor with the Toffees at Goodison Park in January and should win comfortably this time too.”

Chris Sutton prediction: Huge game for Everton

The Toffees have been shockingly poor away from home throughout the campaign and it’s hard to see them picking up points against an in-form Brighton side.

However, this is a do-or-die situation, and they have to give their everything on the pitch to salvage anything from this game – even a draw won’t be a bad result.

This week, the Toffees have suffered a massive injury blow as Seamus Coleman has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

In the previous game, the Toffees managed a 2-2 draw against Leicester City, but they need a better performance against Brighton.
