Florian Plettenberg: Chelsea hold concrete interest in Victor Osimhen

Chelsea and Manchester United hold “concrete” interest in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, as per Florian Plettenberg

The Sky Sports Germany journalist has shared on Twitter that Osimhen is not the hottest option for Paris Saint-Germain at the moment.

The 24-year-old striker is also being tracked by German giants Bayern Munich, but they cannot afford him at the moment.

Plettenberg says that the interest from the Blues is “concrete”. The same can be said about Man Utd, but in their case, they will have to make a choice between Kolo Muani & Osimhen.

The Nigeria striker joined Napoli in 2020 from Lille and has enjoyed arguably his best season so far. He has been in scintillating form and has managed 26 goals and four assists in all competitions.

Napoli are on the verge of winning the Serie A title, and they will demand a huge transfer fee for Osimhen – who has scored 54 goals in 95 games for the club.

“News Osimhen: Understand that Paris Saint-Germain is not the hottest option for him at this stage,” wrote Plettenberg.

“Despite the fact that Paris bosses are pushing for him a lot. It’s more concrete with clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United

“At ManUtd: It’s an internal race between Kolo Muani & Osimhen. He’s still on the list of Bayern but not affordable at the moment.”

Victor Osimhen – perfect for Chelsea?

Osimhen has a contract at the club until 2025, and Napoli certainly are under no pressure to sell him. They will only do so if the price is right.

Chelsea are yet to appoint their next manager, but in all probability, it will be Mauricio Pochettino who will take charge as the permanent boss.

Frank Lampard has failed to win a single game since taking charge in an interim role and there are suggestions that he could be relieved of his duties before the end of the season.

Chelsea

After a disappointing campaign, Chelsea will look to rebuild the squad in the summer with the club looking to trim their squad.

Despite spending over £600m in the previous two windows, the team has performed nowhere near expectation, and a lurch in the fresh direction is needed.

The Blues need to bolster the forward department, and they need to make some strong decisions, including the future of Romelu Lukaku.

The London giants will have to sell a host of players as well to comply with FFP rules. They can match the player’s asking price, but whether Osimhen would be willing to move to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.
