Chelsea have announced the arrival of French forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig via an official statement from the club.
France international Nkunku has been a sensation for RB Leipzig since joining them in 2019 from PSG, catching the eye of multiple clubs around Europe. The 25-year-old chose to join Chelsea as the owners worked very hard to reach an agreement with the German club.
Chelsea will pay around £53m for the Frenchman, who has signed a six-year contract and will officially join the club on July 1st. He becomes Chelsea’s second major purchase from Leipzig after Timo Werner in 2020.
The Blues will look to sign more players after their dismal 2022-23 campaign as they look to re-establish themselves as a dominant force in European football.
Chelsea news: Christopher Nkunku first of many summer signings
Chelsea are set to sign a number of players as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks set to let go of some players who have not lived up to their potential at the club. Nkunku is only the first of those signings, with Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo possibly to follow as well.

Nkunku is an excellent forward with great technical quality and a keen eye for goal. The Frenchman scored 70 goals and provided 56 assists in 172 appearances as a Leipzig player. He also won the Bundesliga’s top scorer award in 2022-23 with 16 goals despite missing months of the season through injury.
In a team with an attacking setup as dysfunctional as Chelsea’s, the decision to add Nkunku is a good one as he will provide a good attacking spark to the team. The forward will be keen to make a good impression in his time at the club.
