Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi is closing in on a move to the Serie A with Lazio, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have made their intentions known to all their players this summer, Mauricio Pochettino‘s first in charge of the club. More than ten senior players have been sold, and those who have not found suitors were left out of their preseason squad.
Former club prodigy Hudson-Odoi was one of the players left out of the squad to tour the USA as the club is keen to let him go on a permanent deal this summer. He has been the subject of enquiries from Fulham and Nottingham Forest, but is now looking likely to join Italian outfit Lazio.
Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri is a huge admirer of the Englishman, having promoted him to the first-team in his lone season in charge of Chelsea in 2018-19. Hudson-Odoi is open to the move and will be hopeful of a deal being struck soon.
Lazio set to seal Callum Hudson-Odoi move
22-year-old England international Hudson-Odoi was one of the most highly-rated young wingers in the world in his teens. An unfortunate Achilles injury slowed his development, causing him to lose his place at Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi spent the 2022-23 season in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen but failed to shine, and the Bundesliga side opted against signing him permanently. Hudson-Odoi played his best football under Sarri and will be keen to replicate that level under the same manager in Italy.
Sarri has been intent on signing some of his quality performers from Chelsea, such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi, and it seems like he will get his wish with the latter.
