Newcastle United have reached a full agreement with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes over a new contract with the club, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Multiple top European sides, including Barcelona and Chelsea were interested in signing Brazil international Guimaraes on a permanent deal from the Magpies. His impact at the club has been massive, having joined in January 2022 from Olympique Lyonnais. He was one of the first signings of the new era at the club.
Guimaraes has been one of the most consistent Newcastle players since his arrival at St. James’s Park. The midfielder helped Newcastle United reach the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2003.
Both parties are satisfied with each other, with Guimaraes very happy at the club, according to Romano. The Brazilian international, however, has a release clause of around £100 million written into the contract.
Newcastle moved quickly to renew the contract of their prized asset, giving him improved terms.
The Magpies have sent out a statement with their handling of Bruno Guimaraes, showing that they will be proactive in dealing with their stars. The midfielder has spent just over a year at the club, but the club already identifies him as a key player and member of the team.
Guimaraes will continue to be a top player for Newcastle United after his first full season ended in relative success. The 25-year-old midfielder has struck up a partnership with big-money midfielder Sandro Tonali since his arrival this summer.
Newcastle will not be afraid to spend money on players, and they will be keen to keep their brightest stars. The Magpies are looking to enjoy success in the league, and can only do so if they keep all of their best players.
