Brighton are interested in bringing Fiorentina centre-back Igor to the club as a new centre-back, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Seagulls are looking for a new left-footed centre-back, and Igor is a primary target. The 25-year-old has already agreed to personal terms with Brighton. Now it is just a matter of agreeing a fee with Fiorentina, who are willing to let him go.
The center back joined the Viola back in 2020, initially on loan from SPAL.
A year later, Igor’s move to Florence became official, with the club paying €6m for his services.
In his three years of playing at Fiorentina, Igor was involved in 110 matches. He never scored for the club, but did contribute one assist.
Last season saw the club reach the final of both the Coppa Italia and UEFA Europa Conference League.
They lost on both occasions, to Internazionale and West Ham, respectively. Fiorentina also finished eighth in the Serie A, and are set to return to the Conference League next season as a result of Juventus’ impending ban.
Brighton have already made some moves in the transfer window, signing goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht. Other notable signings include James Milner, Joao Pedro, Adrian Mazilu, and Mahmoud Dahoud.
Brighton were originally looking to sign Chelsea center back Levi Colwill. However, Romano mentioned in the tweet that the Englishman is not for sale.
According to Transfermarkt, Igor’s current market value is set at €10m. No bid has been made yet from Brighton.
