Brentford have concluded an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign defender Nathan Collins for £23m, making him their club-record signing, as per Sky Sports.
The Bees made a defensive signing a priority this summer, having seen experienced defender Pontus Jansson exit the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. They identified 14-time Republic of Ireland international Collins and made a move for him.
Wolves have accepted a £23m offer for the 22-year-old centre-back, who joined the club only last summer from Burnley for £20m. Brentford will shell out a club-record fee to sign the defender, who is set to undergo his medicals at the club.
Brentford will pay £2m more than their previous transfer record of £21m which they paid to sign German forward Kevin Schade.
Wolves exodus continues with Nathan Collins
Wolves have made outgoings a priority in the opening weeks of the transfer window as they look to overcome their FFP constraints this summer. Manager Julen Lopetegui made it clear that the club must handle their FFP issues in order to stay competitive next season.

The club have sold captain Conor Coady to Leicester City for £7.5m and Ruben Neves to Al-Hilal for £47m. They have also released Joao Moutinho and are prepared to let go of a number of senior players, including Max Kilman, Goncalo Guedes and Daniel Podence.
After their clear out is concluded, Wolves may return to the market to strengthen their own squad. At the moment, however, the priority is on selling players and the sale of Collins is a good one for the club.
