Arsenal and West Ham United have reached a full agreement over a move for England international Declan Rice to the Emirates this summer, according to Daily Mail.
The Gunners made West Ham captain Rice their priority target for the summer as they look to build on a very impressive 2022-23 campaign with another title challenge in 2023-24. Arsenal had to battle Manchester City for the 24-year-old midfielder, as well.
After Arsenal submitted a £105m bid to the Hammers, City pulled out of the running to sign the midfielder, leaving the Gunners free to complete a move for the 24-year-old.
The Gunners are set to pay £100m in guaranteed fees and £5m in add-ons for the midfielder, with the transfer fee set to be spread over a four-year period. Personal terms were never a problem as the player had them agreed weeks ago.
Arsenal set to make Declan Rice second summer signing to take outlay to £170m
Arsenal will make Rice the most expensive player in their history and also the most expensive British player in history. The Gunners will break the record previously held by Manchester City when they paid £100m for Jack Grealish.
Rice will become the side’s second high-profile addition after the £65m signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. Arteta’s side are pushing for a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, as well, this summer.
The addition of Rice to the Gunners’ squad means they have the means now to allow Granit Xhaka complete his move away from the club. Rice will be a top-level addition to the side and further elevate them.
