Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo could leave Amex Stadium in the summer transfer window, with Arsenal and Liverpool keen to sign him, as per London World.
Chris Wheatley claims that Caicedo remains keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer after the Gunners failed to sign him in the January window.
Arsenal submitted a bid in excess of £70m for the young midfielder but it was rejected. Caicedo went on to sign a new contract at Brighton that will keep him at the club until 2027, with the club having an option of extending the deal for another 12 months.
While Brighton are under no pressure to sell him, Caicedo’s agent admits that a move away from Amex Stadium cannot be ruled out.
LondonWorld claim that the Gunners are likely to face strong competition from Liverpool who are equally keen on signing Caicedo’s teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
“Moises is very happy playing in Premier League as he is now, but let’s see what happens in summer,” Manuel Sierra told LondonWorld.
“He wants to play in the best clubs of the world and to keep playing the best competitions of the world like Champions League, World Cup and in my role I’ll try to support him in all what he needs as I try to do with all my players.”
Arsenal transfer news: Moises Caicedo or Declan Rice?
The Gunners will be looking to bolster their midfield this summer with Granit Xhaka facing an uncertain future at the club.
The north London club are heavily linked with a move for West Ham skipper Declan Rice this summer, but it would require a fee of over £100m to lure him away.
Brighton are equally expected to demand a high transfer fee for their star midfielder, and the Gunners need to make a decision whether to move for Rice or Caicedo, as they cannot afford both.
Liverpool transfer news: Caicedo move unlikely
If the widespread reports are to be believed, the Reds are looking more likely to sign Mac Allister in the summer transfer window.
Having missed out on Jude Bellingham, the Reds will look to add two or three midfielders this summer, with the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all set to depart.
However, it is still unlikely that Liverpool will move for Caicedo if they manage to wrap up a deal for Mac Allister, even though they would look to add one or two more midfielders.
