Arsenal are in a stand-off with teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri over a new contract as his schoolboy contract is set to expire in June, according to David Ornstein for the Athletic. 

Sensational youngster Nwaneri, who became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League last September, is highly rated at Arsenal, and a contract offer is on the table for him.

England U-17 star Nwaneri is also attracting attention from the Premier League’s biggest clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, over a move this summer.

Ornstein reports that Arsenal recently conducted another round of negotiations with the representatives of the teenager with a view to reaching an agreement to keep the 16-year-old at the club.

Having made his professional debut away to Brentford in September as a 15-year-old, Nwaneri returned to playing for the U-18s and received no further invitations to play with the first-team.

An attacking midfielder by nature, Nwaneri would look at the competition for the midfield positions at the club in the coming years. The youngster is still some years from becoming a first-team regular, but can look at his pathway and development at the club to make his decision.

Arsenal have recently accepted to lose another young attacking midfielder Charlie Patino to a full transfer after the Englishman failed to see a first-team slot open up despite a successful season on loan.

Nwaneri, who is currently starring for England at the U-17 Euros, has developed into a fine player at Arsenal. His first-team debut should be enough to tell him how highly-rated he is at the club and convince him to sign a new deal at the club.
