According to Florian Plettenberg, Leizpig’s versatile Benjamin Henrichs is under the radar at Arsenal, with the Gunners considering making a move on the German international.
After losing Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool, RB Leipzig could see another player end up leaving the club this summer.
That comes in the form of German international, Henrichs, who can count on interest from Arsenal. While the Gunners have not placed a bid yet, coach Mikel Arteta rates the 26-year-old quite highly.
Henrichs has played with Leipzig for the last three seasons since joining from AS Monaco in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has played 101 times for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring seven goals and adding an assist.
Given Henrichs’ versatility, it comes as little surprise that Arsenal are inquiring about the German. While his primary position is right back, he can play as a wing-back as well as a central midfielder. Furthermore, Henrichs has played on the left for Germany over the last six months.
In the 2022/23 campaign, Henrichs partook in 44 games across all competitions for Leipzig. He helped Die Roten Bullen clinch their second consecutive DFB Pokal trophy, defeating Eintracht Frankfurt in the final.
Henrichs is not the only Leipzig player currently linked to an English club. Recently, reports suggested that Croatian center-back Josko Gvardiol is on his way to Manchester City.
Should both players officially join Szoboszlai in the Premier League, Leipzig will have much work to do in replacing three key parts of their team.
